Overview

Your Mission: The Key Account Manager (KAM) will be responsible for driving strategic growth and customer intimacy across key accounts in the KwaZulu-Natal and Eastern Cape regions. This role requires a dynamic and results-oriented individual who can build long-term relationships, identify new business opportunities, and deliver tailored solutions aligned with Schneider Electric's portfolio in energy management, automation, and digital transformation.

The KAM will act as the primary interface between Schneider Electric and its strategic customers, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction, retention, and growth.

What will you do?
  • Account Management & Business Development
    • Develop and execute strategic account plans for key customers in the region with focus on Infrastructure Segments.
    • Identify and pursue new business opportunities within existing accounts and new prospects.
    • Drive cross-selling and upselling across Schneider Electric's portfolio (Power Systems, Digital Grid, Industrial Automation, Services, etc.).
    • Understand customer business models, pain points, and strategic priorities to position Schneider Electric as a trusted advisor.
  • Customer Relationship & Engagement
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with decision-makers, influencers, and stakeholders at all levels.
    • Facilitate regular customer reviews, strategic planning sessions, and executive engagements.
    • Ensure customer satisfaction through proactive support, issue resolution, and value delivery.
  • Sales Execution & Pipeline Management
    • Achieve sales targets and growth objectives for the region.
    • Maintain accurate forecasting, pipeline visibility, and CRM hygiene.
    • Collaborate with internal teams (marketing, technical, services, finance) to deliver compelling proposals and solutions.
  • Market Intelligence & Strategy
    • Monitor market trends, competitor activities, and regulatory developments in the region.
    • Provide feedback to internal teams to refine go-to-market strategies and product positioning.
    • Represent Schneider Electric at industry events, conferences, and customer forums.

Who will you report to?
  • You will report directly to the Channel Sales Lead Southern Africa, and work closely with regional business leaders and technical experts.
What qualifications will make you successful for this role?
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, or a related field (Master's preferred).
  • Minimum 8-10 years of experience in account management, business development, or sales within the energy sector.
  • Knowledge of low and medium voltage equipment.
  • Experience working with EThekwini or similar utilities is highly desirable.
