Job Description
The Department of Information Systems is situated within the Faculty of Commerce and provides undergraduate, honours, Masters and PhD programmes. It was established at Rhodes University in 1980 and is now an independent department servicing students in BBusSc, BCom and BSc (InfSys) degrees.
ResponsibilitiesAll academics are responsible for disseminating knowledge (teaching and learning), creating knowledge (research) and community engagement, and recognising differences in executing these responsibilities within the various departments and Faculties. Academics are expected to assume administrative, management and/or leadership duties at departmental, faculty and/or university levels.
In addition, an Associate Professor is to provide academic leadership in teaching and learning, research and community engagement, and contribute towards the institution's governance.
Requirements- PhD in Information Systems or equivalent
- Professional experience in Information Systems or equivalent will be an advantage
- Considerable teaching experience at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels is required
- Experience teaching Information Systems, with the ability to cover areas such as IT Governance, Artificial Intelligence, Digital Ethics, Digital Transformation, Systems Analysis and Design, and Project Management
- Research supervision of Master's and PhD degrees
- An established research group/area
- Established national profile and emerging national profile in the discipline
- Track record of administration, management and/or leadership roles
Basic Pensionable Salary per annum: R936,120.00
Cost to Company per annum (Approximately): R1,203,447.00
