Job Description

Our leading FMCG manufacturing client is looking for an experienced Raw Materials Store Manager to oversee all raw material storage operations within the KZN region.

Key Performance Areas Raw Materials & Warehouse Management
  • Full management of raw material stores (on-site and off-site), including secondary packaging and divider-cleaning operations.
  • Maintain batch control and FIFO processes for HDPE, PP, and all materials, including cataloging regrind and issuing oldest batches first.
  • Oversee GRV processes and ensure accurate documentation.
  • Identify control risks and implement corrective measures across stock counts, stock movements, and warehouse processes.
  • Manage the raw material shuttle truck and associated logistics.
Stock Control & Quality Checks
  • Conduct weekly, monthly, annual stock takes, as well as ad-hoc spot checks.
  • Accountable for all raw material and packaging stock variances.
  • Perform incoming inspections on raw materials and packaging to ensure specifications are met:
    • HDPE/PP - bag weights
    • Secondary packaging - dimensions and artwork
    • Pallets - dimensions
    • Bags - dimensions and microns
    • Decoration - colour and artwork accuracy
  • Administer all raw material transactions via SAP.
  • Ensure timely and accurate distribution of raw materials to production.
  • Maintain adequate buffer levels of secondary packaging and communicate weekly with procurement on stock balances.
Equipment, Waste & Compliance
  • Oversee maintenance and care of off-site equipment (divider cleaner, floor cleaner, operating equipment).
  • Ensure high levels of internal and external customer satisfaction.
  • Manage all waste processes, including:
    • Collection from plants
    • Sorting in collaboration with waste partners
    • Supplier collections
    • Selling to approved third parties
    • SAP scrapping and waste reconciliations
  • Ensure correct documentation for invoicing, receipts, and all relevant ISO-related requirements (ISO 9001 & FSSC 22000).
Budgeting, Projects & Leadership
  • Participate in departmental budgeting and forecasting (wages, consumables, maintenance, projects).
  • Drive departmental projects to completion and ensure efficiency improvements.
  • Manage departmental budget.
  • Lead, train, and develop staff; monitor both team and individual performance.
  • Ensure compliance with HR and IR policies and adherence to training plans.
  • Maintain a safe working environment with exceptional housekeeping standards.
Key Competencies & Requirements
  • BCom degree in Supply Chain or Logistics.
  • Proven track record in warehouse management within FMCG supply chain.
  • Strong SAP knowledge and ability to troubleshoot system issues.
  • Solid understanding of the plastics/packaging industry.
  • Proficient in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment with high attention to detail.
  • Self disciplined, driven, and performance oriented.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build effective relationships quickly.
