Job Description

PURPOSE OF ROLE

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced QC Inspector to join our Industrial Division team. The QC Inspector will ensure adherence to Quality Requirements and promote Quality awareness and education throughout our organization. As a key member of the Project Management team, you will be accountable for supporting quality initiatives, achieving a quality culture, and driving best practice and continuous improvement aligned with business objectives. This role involves overseeing and ensuring implementation of all Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Control (QC) measures required for Industrial Division project execution, with responsibility for implementing Quality Control functions including inspection schedules, quality records collection, vendor inspections/audits, and supporting Project/Construction Managers in client quality-related matters.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS Quality Control Inspections
  • Responsible for in-process control during fabrication, erection, and installation activities
  • Monitor and control surface preparation activities including humidity conditions, blasting quality, and paint thickness controls
  • Monitor in-progress spool fabrication and erection ensuring latest drawing revisions are used
  • Witness transfer of heat/cast numbers and material colour coding prior to cutting
  • Ensure correct materials are used for specified line classes
  • Monitor weld preparation and fit-up of spools and equipment for correct alignment, gap, and orientation
  • Maintain welder qualification lists and ensure welders are qualified for assigned welds
  • Conduct dimensional inspections and documentation
  • Perform daily visual inspections of all welding activities
  • Request NDE requirements daily and verify completion
  • Final inspection of completed spools and lines
  • Compile comprehensive inspection packages including test documentation, reports, and material certificates
  • Notify customers of required inspections and obtain acceptance signatures
  • Assist with final system punching and pressure testing preparation
  • Compile pressure test packages and witness testing with customers/inspection authorities
  • Support system reinstatement activities post-testing
  • Compile, review, and submit completed Data Dossiers to clients
NDT Co-Ordination
  • Control all NDE activities ensuring timely performance and daily documentation
  • Notify customers and inspection authorities for test verification
  • Coordinate repair notifications and follow-up activities
  • Control welder performance through tracer monitoring
  • Maintain comprehensive test registers for all NDT methods (RT, UT, MT, PT)
  • Verify calibration validity of all NDT test equipment
  • Ensure adequate access, lighting, and work identification for NDT technicians
Vendor Management and Quality Assurance
  • Perform vendor inspections/audits and report on suitability for Approved Vendor List
  • Support Project/Construction Managers in client quality-related discussions
  • Assess implementation of Quality Plans and Quality Control Plans (QCPs, ITPs, FTPs)
  • Evaluate qualifications of welders and NDT technicians
  • Support internal and external audit activities
  • Manage subcontractor quality control
  • Cooperate with project teams to identify, analyze, and close non-conformities (NCRs)
QUALIFICATION
  • Minimum SAIW Level 2 Diploma in Quality Management or related field
  • Qualification in EC&I field (advantageous)
EXPERIENCE
  • Minimum 5 years in Fabrication, Construction & Maintenance in Petro-Chemical and Power Generation fields
  • Experience implementing strategic Quality frameworks and maintaining quality systems
  • Good knowledge of regulatory and safety governance with focus on site requirements
  • Experience in Industrial Safety and Construction Regulations
  • Working experience in Electrical and Instrumentation installations (advantageous)
  • Experience in Nuclear Safety Principles and Culture (advantageous)
COMPETENCIES Knowledge
  • Compilation of Quality Control Plans (QCPs) and Inspection Test Plans (ITPs)
  • Compilation of Data Dossiers and Project Specific Quality Plans
  • Thorough knowledge of construction/installation/maintenance principles
  • Extensive knowledge of Quality systems within heavy industrial environments
  • Producing and managing tracker registers
  • Compilation of Minutes of QC meetings
  • Quality systems and auditing principles within industrial environments
  • Construction/installation/maintenance principles
  • Regulatory and safety governance requirements
  • Welding procedures, specifications, and qualification records
  • Non-Destructive Testing methods and procedures
  • Material identification and tracking systems
