Project 20k: Government Aims to Employ 20,000 Unemployed Graduates

The South African labor market is buzzing with the news of Project 20k, a massive government initiative designed to tackle youth unemployment head on. Led by the Department of Employment and Labour (DEL), this flagship project is currently one of the most significant opportunities for graduates to enter the public service and gain high level professional experience.

At its core, Project 20k is a nationwide graduate internship drive. The "20k" represents the government's ambitious goal to place 20,000 unemployed graduates into structured, 24 month (two year) internships. Unlike many programs that only last a year, this two year commitment provides interns with enough time to truly master their roles and become highly employable.

• Monthly Stipend: Approximately R7 860.50.
• Duration: 24 months of guaranteed work experience.
