Our client is seeking a Production Supervisor based in Maitland, Cape Town, within the Manufacturing / Mechanical Production industry.
This role is suited to a strong production leader with experience in high-volume manufacturing, shop floor supervision, Lean Manufacturing, and production control, who can drive output, quality, safety, and cost performance.

Requirements: Qualifications:- Qualification in Operations Management or Production Management - Essential
- Mechanical Engineering or related technical qualification - Preferred
- Minimum 5 years' experience in a manufacturing or mechanical production environment
- Experience in high-volume or repetitive production environments
- Proven experience in production supervision, shop floor coordination, and production control
- Strong knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, 5S, TPM (Total Productive Maintenance), and continuous improvement methodologies
- Experience with line balancing, capacity planning, and throughput optimisation
- Working knowledge of OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness) and production performance metrics
- Experience using ERP systems, works orders, and shop floor systems
- Strong understanding of Health and Safety legislation and regulatory compliance
- Knowledge of inventory management, WIP control, and material flow
- English and Afrikaans
- Execute daily production plans to achieve takt time, output targets, and On-Time Delivery (OTD)
- Supervise and coordinate operators to ensure continuous production flow
- Perform line balancing and optimise labour utilisation
- Monitor cycle times, downtime, bottlenecks, and implement corrective actions
- Ensure adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
- Drive Right First-Time production to minimise scrap and rework
- Record and analyse production data including output, downtime, scrap, rework, labour efficiency
- Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions
- Maintain accurate production and ERP records
- Escalate deviations and implement recovery plans
- Ensure compliance with quality systems and internal procedures
- Promote a zero-defect mindset
- Manage traceability, labelling, and component identification
- Contain and resolve quality issues promptly
- Support preventative maintenance and TPM activities
- Improve equipment uptime and OEE performance
- Ensure autonomous maintenance checks are completed
- Coordinate breakdown response and minimise production interruptions
- Lead, coach, and develop production teams
- Manage attendance, timekeeping, and labour productivity
- Address performance and behavioural matters in line with labour legislation
- Maintain accountability and performance standards
- Implement and sustain Lean Manufacturing principles
- Drive 5S and visual management practices
- Identify waste and lead cost-reduction initiatives
- Support operational excellence across safety, quality, delivery, and productivity
- Enforce strict compliance with Health & Safety regulations and PPE requirements
- Promote a proactive safety culture
- Manage departmental costs, including labour, scrap, consumables, and downtime
- Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality or safety
