Westfalia Fruit Estates, situated in Western Cape-Klapmuts, has a vacancy for a suitably qualified and experienced: Production Supervisor

Purpose of the role:

The Production Supervisor is responsible for overseeing day-to-day production activities to ensure efficient operations, consistent product quality, and compliance with health and safety standards. The role involves supervising production teams, coordinating workflows, meeting production targets, monitoring performance, and driving continuous improvement to reduce waste and improve efficiency. The Production Supervisor works closely with management and support teams to ensure production plans are executed effectively and operational standards are maintained.

Key Responsibilities:

Production & Operations

  • Plan and oversee daily production activities
  • Ensure production targets and deadlines are met
  • Monitor processes and improve efficiency
  • Manage stock and production resources

Team Management

  • Supervise and support production staff
  • Assist with recruitment and onboarding
  • Manage performance, discipline, and development

Health & Safety

  • Ensure compliance with health and safety standards
  • Conduct toolbox talks and promote safe working practices
  • Report risks and maintain a safe working environment

Quality Control

  • Ensure products meet quality standards
  • Monitor fruit ripening (especially avocados and mangoes)
  • Reduce waste and manage product quality issues

Equipment & Maintenance

  • Ensure equipment is working properly
  • Report faults and work with maintenance teams
  • Reduce downtime in production

Reporting & Administration

  • Maintain accurate production records
  • Monitor KPIs and performance
  • Ensure proper documentation and housekeeping

Education:

  • Qualification in Agriculture or Production Management

Experience and Skills:

  • Minimum 3 years' experience in a production supervisory role
  • Experience in stock control
  • Knowledge of fruit quality and ripening (especially avocado and mango)
  • Computer skills (Excel)
  • Knowledge of health & safety standards (GMP/HACCP)
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
