Position OverviewMEA Projects, a Division of Howden Africa (Pty) Ltd is seeking an experienced Applications Engineer to focus on business development for Howden's range of compression solutions within the wastewater, oil & gas, petrochemical, and industrial sectors. The role requires a proactive approach to identifying new opportunities and building relationships with clients, as well as technical expertise to support project execution.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders in wastewater, oil & gas, petrochemical, and industrial markets.
- Engage in consultative sales to understand client needs and recommend appropriate compression solutions.
- Prepare detailed tenders and proposals for clients, leading engineering input to high profile tenders.
- Coordinate tenders, engineering, and design work with local and global business units, convene review meetings to ensure accurate and timely designs.
- Create accurate, organized, and detailed costing of proposed systems (civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, control and instrumentation).
- Provide detailed technical presentations to clients to address their issues and promote company equipment, products, systems, and projects.
- Negotiate contract conditions and commercial terms, ensuring alignment with company policies and procedures.
- Process and mechanical engineering design including development of P&IDs, PFDs, mechanical designs, etc.
- Generate process descriptions, control philosophies and functional design specifications.
- Commission new plants to meet customer expectations and complete within agreed timeframes.
- Ensure implementation of company standards and industry and statutory codes in all designs.
- Generate feasibility design reports.
Tertiary qualification in Engineering - B.Eng degree (Mechanical or Chemical).
Professional Experience- Strong knowledge of thermodynamic principles with mass and energy balance calculations.
- Strong background and knowledge of compression systems.
- Strategic approach to business opportunities.
- Exposure in high value turnkey multi disciplinary projects is advantageous.
- Familiarity with international standards, codes and specifications such as ASME, API, TEMA, PED, ASHRAE, EN and ISO is an advantage.
- Willingness to learn from subject experts and document and apply knowledge.
- Willingness to travel (% of time).
- Willingness to work towards professional registration with ECSA (Pr Eng) 7 years+ experience.
