Photometric Lab Technician
Job Description
We are seeking a detail-oriented and technically proficient Photometric Lab Technician to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting photometric and technical testing on luminaires, supporting product development, and ensuring accurate reporting and data management within the laboratory environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Photometric Testing
- Conduct photometric testing on luminaires using a goniophotometer
- Set up, align, and verify luminaires prior to testing
- Ensure compliance with relevant standards and testing procedures
Reporting & Documentation
- Generate accurate and professional PDF test reports
- Record and maintain detailed test data and observations
- Ensure all documentation is completed and stored correctly
Data Management
- Create and manage IES files
- Maintain organized records of all test data
- Compile and analyse data using Excel
Calibration
- Perform routine calibration of photometric equipment
- Maintain calibration records and ensure equipment accuracy
Electrical & Technical Support
- Assist with electrical testing and fault finding
- Support product development with technical input
- Interpret wiring diagrams and product specifications
Thermal Testing
- Conduct thermal performance tests on luminaires
- Record and analyse temperature data
IP Testing
- Perform ingress protection (IP) tests where required
- Ensure compliance with relevant IP standards
LED Driver Programming & Testing
- Program and test LED drivers
- Verify driver performance and compatibility with luminaires
Internal Support
- Provide technical support to sales representatives when required
- Assist with product evaluations and technical queries
Minimum Qualifications & Experience
- Diploma in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related field or N5/N6 Electrical Engineering Certificate
- Previous experience in a photometric laboratory or similar testing environment
- Strong understanding of photometric testing equipment and procedures
- Proficiency in generating reports and managing IES files
- Advanced Excel skills for data analysis and reporting
- Experience with calibration processes and laboratory equipment
- Good understanding of electrical systems and wiring
