Job Description

A specialist publishing and conferencing organisation is seeking a proactive Virtual Executive Assistant for a flexible, 10-hour-per-week contract. While the role is primarily remote, the successful candidate must be based in Gauteng to attend occasional face-to-face meetings. This position requires a high-energy professional who can manage a significant increase in volume during April, tapering off in May and June. The ideal candidate is a self-starter capable of managing event logistics and author relations with total independence.

Reporting to the Managing Director your responsibilities will be:

  • Manage diary appointments and professional schedules with a high sense of urgency.
  • Type and format blog articles for publication.
  • Source and book conference venues, manage invitation distributions, and conduct rigorous follow-ups.
  • Coordinate with authors to organise and promote book launches and promotional events.
  • Liaise with stakeholders fluently in both English and Afrikaans.
Requirements
  • Previous experience within the publishing, marketing or events industry.
  • Proven track record of managing project-based workloads with varying intensity.
  • Computer literate, Microsoft Office Suite (Expert level, Zoom or Digital invitation/scheduling tools).
  • A role designed for an independent thinker who dislikes micro-management.
  • A self-starter who can prioritise without being asked.
  • A blend of creative content support and high-level logistics.
