An established and busy restaurant is seeking a meticulous Payroll and HR Administrator to manage the full-cycle payroll and human resources function for 18 hours per week.This role is essential for maintaining legislative compliance and ensuring the seamless administration of staff contracts, disciplinary procedures, and statutory submissions during a critical operational period .
Payroll Execution: Process accurate weekly wages and monthly salaries using Sage Pastel Payroll, ensuring all leave forms and medical certificates are validated and captured correctly .
Compliance & Statutory Reporting: Reconcile PAYE, UIF, and SDL; manage EMP201 and EMP501 processes, and submit monthly UIF declarations and yearly COIDA returns .
Employee Relations: Manage internal disciplinary issues, including issuing warnings and initiating hearings, while liaising with labour legal counsel to ensure adherence to BCEA and CCMA protocols
Data Integrity: Monitor daily staff clock-ins for weekly and monthly cycles and ensure all personnel files, employment contracts, and policies remain updated and secure .
Administrative Support: Serve as the primary point of contact for staff queries, handling sensitive information with the highest level of confidentiality and professionalism .
Experience: Proven experience in a full-function HR and Payroll role, specifically within the restaurant or hospitality sector .
Legislative Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of the Basic Conditions of Employment Act (BCEA), SARS eFiling, and current South African payroll tax regulations .
Technical Proficiency: Advanced skills in Sage Pastel Payroll, and Microsoft Excel .
Labour Relations: Practical experience in handling disciplinary procedures and Department of Labour documentation for terminations or maternity benefits .
Attributes: Exceptional attention to detail, the ability to manage multiple deadlines independently, and a flexible, "all-rounder" approach to tasks .
Logistics: A valid driver's licence and reliable own transport are essential .
Relevant certification in Payroll Administration or Human Resources.
Basic accounting or financial knowledge is highly advantageous .
Experience in the restaurant industry high advantageous.
