A well-established manufacturing organisation is seeking a high calibre Financial Manager to safeguard the company's financial integrity and streamline its operational functions. Reporting directly to the CEO, this role serves as the critical financial checkpoint for the business. The successful candidate will be responsible for the rigorous oversight of all bookkeeping activities, ensuring absolute accuracy in financial reporting, VAT compliance, and internal governance.
This position is ideal for a hands on professional who thrives on detail, possesses strong supervisory skills, and is committed to maintaining a robust control environment while managing day to day financial operations. Hybrid (one 4 hour day in office per week) 2 4 hours per day dependent on accounting cycles, R350 - R450 per hour.
Key Responsibilities- Act as the primary financial validator by reviewing and signing off on all bookkeeping functions, including debtors, creditors, payroll, and journals.
- Implement and maintain stringent internal financial controls to identify and resolve discrepancies promptly.
- Oversee all statutory compliance, including the review and approval of monthly VAT calculations and SARS submissions (PAYE, UIF, SDL).
- Supervise and mentor the Bookkeeper, ensuring high standards of efficiency and accuracy in daily transactional tasks and supplier reconciliations.
- Prepare and analyse monthly management accounts, providing the CEO with accurate income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow insights.
- Manage budgeting and cost control initiatives to enhance the organisation's financial performance.
- Identify operational risks and drive process improvements through automation and improved administrative workflows.
- Lead office administration and support functions to ensure operational efficiency and effective internal communication.
- Ensure all financial records are consistently audit ready through meticulous document management.
- A minimum of 5-10 years of experience in senior accounting or financial control roles.
- Based in CT.
- Proven experience in a supervisory capacity, specifically reviewing the work of a bookkeeper.
- Extensive knowledge of South African VAT and statutory submission requirements.
- Advanced proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
- Demonstrated ability to identify financial errors and enforce accountability within a team.
- Strong analytical skills with a proactive approach to problem solving.
- An Accounting degree, diploma, or an equivalent professional qualification.
