Job Description

Role Title: Paralegal

Location: South Africa - fully remote

Type: Long Term Contractor

Hours: Monday to Friday 12am to 8am SAST

Salary: R to R per month negotiable based on experience

Reporting to: Senior Associate

With a modern and flexible workplace powered by online based software, the team enjoys the freedom to work smarter and more efficiently without compromising on quality. As the firm continues to grow, they are seeking an enthusiastic and driven individual to join their team in a Paralegal role.

The Opportunity

As a key member of the legal team, you will be involved in a broad range of responsibilities including:

  • Managing and handling motor vehicle property and debt recovery claims
  • Working on both litigated and non litigated matters
  • Negotiating daily with insurers, lawyers and other stakeholders to achieve the best outcomes for clients
  • Speaking with clients and third parties to facilitate the recovery of claims
  • Drafting legal documents and preparing litigation material
  • Assisting colleagues with tasks and drafting of documents

Ideally, you will bring
  • Some experience in the insurance industry, particularly motor vehicle claims not essential but highly regarded
  • A collaborative approach and the ability to work independently when required
  • A strong desire to learn, grow and develop legal skills
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills with a commercial mindset
  • A positive attitude and professional work ethic
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office and other relevant software
  • Strong organisational and time management skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion
  • Ongoing training, support and mentorship
  • A close knit, high performing team with a collaborative culture
  • Exposure to the full litigation process from pre litigation through to post litigation
