Ophthalmic Nurse

South Africa - Western Cape , Cape Town - Central (Camps Bay - Maitland)

Our client, a specialised private eye clinic, is seeking an Ophthalmic Nurse to join their highly skilled team on a permanent basis at their Cape Town facility.

• Assist in ophthalmic surgeries, ensuring a sterile environment and correct handling of surgical instruments.
• Provide high-quality pre-operative and post-operative care to ophthalmic patients.
• Work closely with surgeons, anaesthetists, and the wider theatre team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
• Perform scrubbing duties for ophthalmic procedures, and assist in other surgical disciplines when required.
• Support and monitor patients undergoing local, regional, or general anaesthesia.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records in compliance with hospital policies.
• Adhere strictly to infection control, health, and safety standards at all times.

• Matric
• Registered Nurse (RN)
• Valid registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC).
• Over 5 years of nursing experience, including theatre experience.
• Previous experience in ophthalmology or related disciplines is preferred.
• Scrubbing experience in ophthalmic surgeries is highly advantageous.
• Experience in other surgical fields will be beneficial.
• Anaesthetic training or relevant experience is advantageous but not essential.
