We are currently looking for an Operator - Fiberline to operate and monitor Fiberline production equipment safely and efficiently to ensure continuous fibre production that meets quality, safety, and production targets.
Minimum Requirements- Grade 12 / Matric certificate.
- Valid forklift licence/certification.
- Relevant manufacturing or production related training will be advantageous.
- 1 year proven work experience in Nonwovens machinery/similar.
- Minimum 1-2 years' experience in a manufacturing, extrusion, fibreline, plastics, or production environment.
- Experience operating production machinery and balers preferred.
- Experience working with polymer materials is advantageous.
- Ability to follow instructions and safety procedures accurately.
- Follow work instructions for start up, running, and shutdown of the production line.
- Conduct pre operational checks on equipment, raw materials, and safety devices.
- Check emergency stops and safety devices for functionality before operation.
- Ensure that raw material is loaded according to the feeding procedures.
- Monitor the machine closely, identify wraps on the godet, and remove them.
- Monitor the extrusion process to ensure consistent fibre production in a way that meets manufacturing specifications and tolerances.
- Operate the baler within safety standards.
- Pack bales to the maximum load capacity.
- Accurately book bales on AX and maintain traceability of production batches as per work instruction.
- General work/production as required from time to time.
- Load polymer with a good understanding of different grades of polymer.
- Operate the strapping gun machine correctly.
- Identify faults in the baler before it causes problems.
- Use reasonable discretion during machine abnormal behaviour and act quickly and swiftly to report to the Supervisor and Maintenance and/or apply the emergency stop to the machine as per work instructions.
- Perform routine cleaning and assist with basic maintenance tasks to prevent malfunctions and ensure optimal performance.
- Conduct and record regular quality inspections at defined intervals.
- Monitor product quality to achieve company targets (Saleable goods >90%).
- Identify and resolve issues that may arise during the extrusion process, such as fibre defects, jams, or inconsistencies.
- Operate forklift safely, conduct daily checks, and comply with safety rules.
- Utilise/drive forklift as required, as per safety standards, to move raw materials and fibre bales.
- Always carry your equipment operator card with you.
- Report any unsafe conditions, unsafe acts, hazards, or incidents to the safety officer or supervisor immediately.
- Adhere to all health and safety procedures and protocols while operating the machine.
- Participate in regular safety drills and training sessions.
- Always wear prescribed personal protective equipment.
- Ensure walkways are free of obstruction and 5S housekeeping.
