Responsibilities

To manage and control overall demand requirements within the manufacturing environment in such a way that it drives cost, quality, and efficiency. To oversee and drive all MAKE related compliance initiatives and KPA's.

The jobholder makes decisions that influence overall production performance and productivity and balances several variables to the required service level of sales.

  • Ensure daily and weekly on time delivery to dispatch and adherence to CFR/short load targets to ensure optimal customer service delivery
  • Manage CAPEX planning and execution for the bakery, including timely submission of Charters and CAR's.
  • The management of quality product through continual monitoring of the line performance through the optimization of quality vs. cost relationship. Ensure achievement of bread quality benchmarks.
  • Effective utilisation of labour hours including optimal line manning, TES usage and overtime control and management.
  • Ensure that development and training needs of FLEs and direct reports are fulfilled and there is a strong succession and retention plan of key skills.
  • Ensure that discipline is maintained through the effective use of the disciplinary code and adherence to the PepsiCo Code of Conduct. Ensure PDRs are in place and tracked for all HODs and functional leads within the MAKE function.
  • Monitor and manage daily end to end MAKE KPA's including supply, waste (damages, yields, usages and stock count variances), efficiencies (TE/NE), productivity, quality, EHS and manufacturing overhead costs (MOH).
  • Prepare a daily, weekly and monthly performance report and feedback performance-related issues in line with the structural hierarchy.
  • Ensure meeting cadences are adhered to drive end to end Make KPA's and objectives.
  • Analyze the weekly direct cost variance report and reconcile the previous production week's performance to standard.
  • Ensure daily materials controls are in place and executed timeously, this includes backflushing, GRVs, stock counts, variance investigations/closure.
  • Check and ensure that all housekeeping, food safety and occupational safety standards are adhered to.
  • Improve plant audit performance and work environment.
  • Direct supervisory staff (HOD's and functional leads) in identifying and correcting any unsafe conditions.
  • Identify opportunities to improve production processes and/or operating methods.
  • Ensure effective communication and stakeholder management including internal support (functional, sector, global) as well as external (internal/external customers, suppliers, regulatory, government, etc).
  • Tertiary qualification in Production Management, Engineering, Operations and/or equivalent
  • Knowledge of quality assurance standards and systems.
  • Computer literate (Access and MS Office)
  • Knowledge of safety regulations
  • Sound Employee relations knowledge
  • Relevant communication skills and stakeholder management
  • Successfully works with others in a Management role: Quality, Facilities, Engineering, Raw Materials Stores and Distribution.
