Job Description
The Junior Prep is seeking a dedicated, dynamic Occupational Therapist who is qualified in Ayres Sensory Integration (ASI) to join our school. This role suits a practitioner committed to holistic child development and collaborative partnership with teachers and parents to create an inclusive, responsive learning environment. The successful candidate will deliver therapeutic intervention through individual and small-group sessions, supporting students to thrive socially, emotionally, and academically.
Key Responsibilities- Demonstrate expertise in paediatric assessment and therapeutic interventions.
- Deliver therapeutic intervention through individual and small-group sessions, supporting students' social, emotional and academic development.
- Develop, implement and review individualised, goal-oriented intervention plans.
- Collaborate with parents, teachers and relevant therapists as part of a multidisciplinary support team.
- Ability to build rapport and trust with children and their families.
- Willingness to contribute to best practice of the Junior Preparatory School.
- Stay current with the latest research, techniques and advancements in paediatric occupational therapy through continuing education and professional development.
- A recognised professional qualification in Occupational Therapy.
- Evidence of ASI training/credential (e.g., SI certificate recognised in South Africa).
- Current registration with the HPCSA.
- A minimum of 5 years' post-qualification experience as an Occupational Therapist.
- Experience working in a school or educational setting.
- A sexual offender's clearance certificate and First Aid Certificate.
- Excellent written and spoken English.
- Strong clinical reasoning and clear, professional communication.
- High standard of report-writing and the ability to provide constructive feedback.
- A willingness to work within the values, Methodist Christian ethos and mission of the College.
