Responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance, and optimisation of the ISP's core, aggregation, and access networks. The role ensures high availability, performance, scalability, and security across all network services within a service provider environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and support ISP core and access network infrastructure
- Configure and manage Layer 2 switching and VLAN environments
- Implement and support dynamic routing protocols (BGP, OSPF)
- Manage peering, transit, and upstream routing policies
- Design and maintain IP addressing plans and IP allocations
- Monitor bandwidth utilisation and plan capacity upgrades
- Troubleshoot complex network incidents
- Support client onboarding, migrations, and solution design
- Maintain accurate documentation and follow change management processes
- Participate in after-hours standby and emergency support
Qualifications
- Grade 12
Certifications
- Security+ (advantageous)
- Valid Driver's License
Experience
- 5+ years in an ISP or service provider environment
- Strong hands on experience with switching, routing, IP networking, and bandwidth management
- Advanced knowledge of Layer 2 & Layer 3 networking
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills
