Netcare Intake 2026: Become a Pharmacist Assistant (Grade 12)
Job Description
Netcare Intake 2026: Become a Pharmacist Assistant (Grade 12) -Are you sitting with a Matric certificate but don't have the funds to go to university? Don't let your dreams of working in healthcare fade away just because the bank account is low.
Netcare has just opened applications for Pharmacist Assistant Learners (Basic) for 2026, and this could be the "big break" you've been praying for.
This isn't just a "job" where you stand behind a counter. This is a formal, accredited learnership where you get trained to work inside a world-class Netcare hospital pharmacy.
You aren't just a "packer", but you are being trained as a healthcare professional who handles life saving medication and works alongside some of the best pharmacists in South Africa.
What exactly does a Pharmacist Assistant do?In this role, you will be the "right hand" of the Pharmacist. You are the engine room of the hospital pharmacy. During your learnership, you will master the following:
- Dispensing Medicine: You will learn how to identify, read, and prepare the correct medication according to a doctor's prescription.
- Stock Management: Hospitals move thousands of pills and syrups every day. You will learn how to control stock so that life saving medicine is always available when a patient needs it.
- Pharmacy Systems: You will be trained on the hospital's high tech computer systems to track prescriptions and patient data.
- Patient Interaction: You are often the last person a patient sees before they leave. You will learn how to explain how to use medication safely and professionally.
Netcare is a top tier company with high standards. They are looking for learners who are disciplined, smart, and ready to work hard. To qualify for the 2026 intake, you MUST meet these criteria:
- Grade 12 (Matric): You must have your National Senior Certificate.
- Mathematics & English: You need to have passed both. While Maths Literacy is sometimes considered, Pure Mathematics is a huge advantage for this role.
- Life Sciences/Biology: This is the "secret weapon" on your CV. If you have Biology, you will likely be pushed to the top of the pile because you already understand the basics of the human body.
- Attention to Detail: In a pharmacy, there is zero room for mistakes. Giving the wrong dose is dangerous. You must be someone who double checks everything.
- No Experience Needed: This is specifically for unemployed youth who want to start from the bottom and grow.
The best thing about this Netcare opportunity is that it doesn't end after one year. Once you complete your Basic Pharmacist Assistant qualification, you can study further to become a Post Basic Pharmacist Assistant.
A Post Basic assistant earns a much higher salary and has more responsibilities. Eventually, some learners even go on to study Pharmacy at university once they have saved enough money from their stipends!
The Stipend & BenefitsNetcare understands that you need to live while you learn. They provide a monthly stipend to all learners to cover transport, food, and basic needs. While the exact amount isn't published in the advert, healthcare learnerships in the private sector usually range between R4,000 and R6,500 per month.
More importantly, Netcare pays for your training! You are getting a private sector education for free while being paid to be there.
Netcare uses the Workday recruitment system. This system is great but can be "heavy" on a mobile phone. Make sure you have enough data and a strong signal before you start.
- Prepare your documents: Have your ID, Matric Certificate, and a clean CV saved as PDF files on your phone or computer.
- Create a Profile: You will need to sign up with an email address and a password.
- Complete the application: Answer all the questions honestly. If you lie about your Maths marks, they will find out when you upload your certificate!
- The "Clean CV" Rule: Since this is a medical job, your CV should look "clean." No crazy fonts or colors. Keep it professional.
- The Wait: Netcare receives thousands of applications. If you don't hear back in two weeks, don't panic. Check your email (and spam folder) regularly.
- Interview Prep: If you get called, wear a white shirt or a formal blouse. In the medical world, looking "neat and hygienic" is part of the job description.
Makukhanye! Kwande! Let's get those healthcare careers started!
