We are looking for a Mechanical Engineer M/F based in South Africa.
JOB PURPOSEThe mechanical engineer will play a vital role in the design, development, and manufacturing of automotive systems and components. The mechanical engineer designs, develops, and implements mechanical devices, systems, and processes, from initial research and design to testing and installation. The mechanical engineer will apply engineering principles and expertise to solve problems, innovate, and ensure the safety and efficiency of mechanical systems.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION- Degree in Mechanical Engineering
At least 3 to 5 years relevant experience at Mechanical Engineer level, in Automotive Manufacturing or manufacturing.
TECHNICAL PRE-REQUISITE- Working experience with product lifecycle management
- Maintain pressure vessel standards as per SABS
- Hands on experience with computer-aided engineering (CAM) and computer-aided manufacturing (CAE)
- Familiarity with 2D or 3D engineering design and manufacturing tools
- Mathematical computing and analysis tools knowledge
- Solid understanding of core concepts including mechanics, kinematics, thermodynamics, materials science etc.
- Safety Knowledge
- Ability to run simulations and analyze test dataAbility to write clear and comprehensive technical documentation
- Highly analytical mind, with exceptional problem solving skills and attention to detail
- ISO 9000, ISO 14000
- OHS Standards
- Knowledge of Microsoft applications, with intermediate Excel

- Perform a full cycle product development (design, develop, test prototypes, manufacture and implement)
- Designing systems and components that meet needs and requirements and developing prototypes
- Plan, coordinate, or monitor the selection of manufacturing methods, fabrication, or operation and maintenance of components, ensuring optimal manufacturing or component performance
- Conduct root cause analysis and develop solutions for product malfunctions or problems
- Estimating budgets and time scopes for each Project
- Analyzing and testing prototypes and each revision of a device
- Developing, initiating and managing all phases of projects
- Preparing documentation of critical analysis and providing suggestions for correcting errors
- Collaborating with other departments for proper allocation and tracking of resources
