Job Description

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Draughtsman is responsible for producing accurate and detailed 2D and 3D drawings, models, and fabrication data to support engineering, manufacturing, and project execution activities. The role requires strong proficiency in Autodesk Inventor and the ability to work within a multidisciplinary engineering environment. Prior exposure to mineral processing, heavy industrial equipment, or manufacturing environments will be a significant advantage.

Key Responsibilities 1. Drawing & Modeling
  • Develop and update 3D models using Autodesk Inventor, ensuring accuracy and adherence to design intent.
  • Prepare detailed fabrication, assembly, and general arrangement drawings.
  • Manage drawing revisions, control documentation, and maintain drawing traceability through established systems (Vault exposure advantageous).
2. Engineering Support
  • Collaborate with Engineers to translate conceptual designs into manufacturable outputs.
  • Participate in design reviews and incorporate engineering feedback efficiently.
  • Assist in resolving design challenges, interferences, and site-related design modifications.
3. Standards & Compliance
  • Apply industry standards, codes of practice, and internal drawing conventions.
  • Ensure all drawings meet company quality standards and project specifications.
4. Manufacturing & Project Interface
  • Produce accurate bills of materials (BOMs) and support procurement with technical detail.
  • Provide drawing support to fabrication teams and address workshop queries.
  • Support the Project Management Office with layout drawings, equipment footprints, and interface details.
5. Quality control
  • Review all drawings, layouts, and detailing for technical accuracy, completeness, and constructability prior to issue.
  • Perform cross-checks between disciplines (structural, mechanical, piping, electrical, etc.) to identify clashes, inconsistencies, or interface issues.
  • Ensure drawing issue status, numbering, and document control requirements are correctly followed.
  • Identify and resolve drafting errors, omissions, and non-conformances prior to internal review or external submission.
  • Support continuous improvement of drafting and QC processes by identifying recurring issues and proposing corrective actions.
REQUIREMENTS Minimum Qualifications
  • Relevant Draughting Certificate or Diploma (Mechanical, Structural, or Multidisciplinary).
  • Proven experience as a Designer/Draughtsman in an engineering or fabrication environment.
Technical Skills
  • Autodesk Inventor: Advanced proficiency (mandatory).
  • Autodesk Vault: Experience and proficiency (advantageous).
  • Ability to produce fabrication-ready structural, mechanical and piping drawings.
Experience
  • Experience in mineral processing equipment, mining machinery, or heavy manufacturing (strong advantage).
  • Familiarity with plant layout design, material handling equipment, or process plant components is beneficial.
