Overview

As Marketing and Communications Director, you will play a pivotal role in amplifying the mission of TWR Africa by developing and implementing strategic marketing and communication plans. This position is responsible for overseeing all internal and external communications at TWR Africa, enhancing the organization's public presence, and ensuring all messaging aligns with Christian values and the vision of the ministry.

Key Responsibilities Strategic Leadership
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive marketing and communication strategy to promote the organization's mission, programs, and values.
  • Align all communication strategies with the organization's vision, values, and Christian principles.
  • Lead and manage a small team of marketing and communication professionals, including a content creator, social media manager, and graphic designer.
Branding and Messaging
  • Ensure consistency of messaging and branding across all platforms, both digital and print.
  • Create and uphold the organization's brand guidelines, ensuring all materials reflect the faith-driven mission of the ministry.
  • Develop compelling narratives that communicate the organization's impact and inspire both internal and external stakeholders.
Content Creation and Distribution
  • Oversee the creation of written, visual, and multimedia content that speaks to the organization's mission and engages a wide audience.
  • Manage content for the website, social media, email newsletters, and other communication channels.
  • Coordinate press releases, media outreach, and crisis communication strategies as needed.
Digital Marketing and Social Media
  • Lead efforts in digital marketing, including social media strategy, SEO, email campaigns, and online advertising.
  • Ensure active engagement with the online community through social media platforms and other digital channels.
  • Monitor and analyze digital campaign performance and adjust strategies for improvement.
Public Relations
  • Serve as the organization's spokesperson when appropriate and build relationships with key media outlets.
  • Manage the organization's reputation through effective media relations and storytelling.
  • Plan and oversee events and campaigns that highlight the organization's mission and activities.
Internal Communications
  • Develop and maintain effective internal communication channels that keep staff and volunteers informed and aligned with the organization's goals.
  • Support leadership in communicating organizational changes, updates, and initiatives to employees and stakeholders.
Donor and Stakeholder Engagement
  • Collaborate with the Development and Fundraising teams to support donor relations through targeted communication efforts.
  • Develop materials and campaigns to engage donors, supporters, and partners in the organization's mission.
Educational Background

Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or a related field. Additional certification or training in faith-based or nonprofit communications is a plus.

Experience
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in marketing and communications, with experience in a leadership or director-level role.
  • Proven experience in digital marketing, social media, and content strategy, particularly within a nonprofit or faith-based organization.
  • Experience in strategic planning, budget management, and cross departmental collaboration.
  • Strong understanding of Christian values and experience working with faith-based communities or organizations.
Skills & Competencies
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Expertise in digital marketing tools, analytics, and social media platforms.
  • Proficiency in design and content management software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, WordPress, etc.).
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to translate vision into actionable plans.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross functional teams.
  • A passion for storytelling and connecting people to the organization's mission.

  • Understanding of how to communicate within a faith-based context with sensitivity to diverse audiences.
