Job Description
Market Access & Government Affairs Lead - NWA is responsible for developing and executing integrated market access and government affairs strategies that maximize patient access to AbbVie's portfolio across the North West Africa (NWA) region. The role drives pricing, reimbursement, and payer engagement strategies while shaping the external policy and regulatory environment through proactive government relations, stakeholder partnerships, and health economic evidence. Acting as a cross functional leader, this position ensures alignment between commercial, medical, regulatory, and policy objectives - ultimately enabling sustainable business growth and improved patient outcomes.
1-Access Strategy Development- Develop & implement market access strategies that align with the overall business objectives & support product launches and lifecycle management.
- Conduct in-depth analysis of the payer landscape & healthcare systems to identify opportunities & challenges for market access.
- Develop optimal pricing strategies that align with market needs & company goals.
- Lead efforts to secure reimbursement for products by engaging with key decision makers & stakeholders.
- Establish & maintain relationships with healthcare authorities and payers.
- Collaborate with medical, regulatory, & commercial teams to ensure alignment & consistency in market access initiatives.
- Utilize HEOR data & evidence to support value propositions & demonstrate the clinical & economic benefits of the company's products.
- Collaborate with external partners & organizations to generate & disseminate relevant health economic evidence.
- Develop & implement government affairs, policy, & external engagement strategies within key therapy areas across NWA countries.
- Lead engagement strategies with external stakeholders to shape policies & improve the ecosystem, including legal, regulatory, & pharmaceutical industry bodies.
- Develop and coordinate strategies to advocate for business goals & policy objectives in alignment with cross functional teams.
- Monitor legislative & regulatory environments to identify issues critical to the business.
- Build & maintain relationships with government officials, political decision makers, & other stakeholders to support company objectives.
- Act as the company's representative in trade associations & pharmaceutical industry groups, fostering relationships & participating in industry activities.
- Support & collaborate on patient programs, liaising with patient groups to advance health agendas & access to innovative medicines.
- Drive AbbVie's positions through trade associations to support patient access to treatment & business priorities.
- Ensure adherence to local & international compliance standards in all market access activities.
- Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy, Medicine, Life Sciences, Health Economics, Public Health, or a related field (required)
- Master's degree in Health Economics, Public Policy, Business Administration (MBA), or a related discipline (strongly preferred)
- Minimum 8-10 years of progressive experience in market access, health economics, government affairs, or public policy within the pharmaceutical or healthcare industry
- Demonstrated experience in the NWA region (North West Africa), with a strong understanding of local payer landscapes, healthcare systems, and regulatory environments
- Proven track record of leading pricing & reimbursement negotiations and securing product listings with national payers and health authorities
- Experience engaging with government officials, policy makers, and trade/industry associations
- Familiarity with HEOR methodologies and the application of health economic evidence in market access submissions
- Strong strategic thinking with the ability to translate market insights into actionable access plans
- Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills across internal and external audiences at senior levels
- Deep knowledge of pharmaceutical compliance standards (local and international), including anti corruption and industry codes of practice
- Strong analytical skills - ability to interpret payer data, policy changes, and health economic evidence
- Outstanding communication and presentation skills, with the ability to simplify complex topics for diverse audiences
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and lead cross functional initiatives in a fast paced, matrix environment
- High degree of integrity, judgment, and discretion in handling sensitive government and policy matters
- Arabic (native or fluent) (required)
- French (required for NWA countries)
- English (business proficiency) (required)
- Willingness to travel across NWA countries as required by business needs
