A leading specialist export company in the ship chandling and marine supply industry, is looking for an experienced LogisticsOperations Manager to join their team in Paarden Eiland.
As Operations Manager, you will lead a team of 10 staff members, overseeing the end-to-end delivery process for vessels in port, anchorage, or shipyards.
Responsibilities- Operational Execution: Planning and coordinating complex deliveries including deck and engine supplies, cabin stores, and bonded goods.
- Dual Focus (Ops & Procurement): Managing inventory levels and warehouse efficiency while working closely with suppliers to ensure competitive pricing and product availability.
- Team Leadership: Mentoring and managing a team of 10, ensuring high performance, safety compliance, and accountability.
- Logistics & Port Relations: Coordinating transport, port access, and launch services while navigating shifting vessel schedules and port regulations.
- Quality Control: Maintaining high standards for food safety, stock accuracy, and the specialized storage requirements of marine coatings.
- Qualifications: A Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Supply Chain, Logistics, or Maritime Studies is preferred.
- Proven experience in Ship Chandling, Marine Supply, or Port Logistics.
- Operations management experience within the maritime industry.
- Systems Proficiency: Strong skills in ERP/inventory systems and Microsoft Office.
- Problem-Solving Prowess: The ability to handle urgent, last-minute vessel requests and resolve delivery challenges quickly.
- A Detail-Oriented Leader: You possess the rare ability to see the "big picture" of supply chain strategy while maintaining a hawk-eyed focus on the fine details of a technical order.
- Have a proven track record in Ship Chandling, Marine Supply, or Port Logistics. You understand the unique pressures of vessel husbandry.
- Leadership Skills: Experience managing teams in a warehouse or logistics environment.
- Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with a wide range of marine products.
- You remain calm under pressure, capable of managing urgent, short-notice vessel requests and shifting schedules.
- Strong leadership, negotiation skills, and a customer-centric mindset.
- Proficient in ERP systems and Microsoft Office, using data to drive operational efficiency.
- There can be some after hours work when needed.
- Valid driver's license.
