Job Description

Job Title

Managing Director - Recruitment Industry

Job Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Managing Director to lead and scale a highly specialised recruitment business with ambitious growth plans. The organisation operates within a niche segment of the recruitment industry and is preparing for a significant scale-up strategy leading to a structured business buy-out.

We are seeking a commercially astute leader who has successfully scaled a business internationally, ideally within recruitment or a related professional services sector. The successful candidate will work closely with the founder to expand operations, strengthen market positioning, and drive revenue growth with the ultimate goal of participating in a future acquisition or buy-out structure.

This role suits a personable, engaging leader with strong business instincts, someone who can build relationships, motivate teams, and identify growth opportunities without unnecessary corporate complexity. The company culture values approachable leadership, humour, and authenticity, combined with strong execution and strategic thinking.

Relocation support will be provided as part of the overall compensation package where required.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the strategic growth and operational scaling of a niche recruitment business
  • Develop and execute an international expansion strategy within targeted recruitment markets
  • Build, lead, and inspire high-performing recruitment and operational teams
  • Identify market opportunities and drive revenue growth through innovative business development initiatives
  • Optimise recruitment delivery processes and operational efficiency
  • Strengthen client relationships and secure long-term partnerships with key accounts
  • Oversee financial performance, including budgeting, forecasting, and profitability targets
  • Prepare the business for a structured buy-out or ownership transition as part of long term growth planning
  • Work closely with ownership on strategic decision making and business development initiatives
  • Represent the company professionally in client, industry, and leadership environments
Qualifications and Experience
  • Proven experience scaling a business, ideally within recruitment, staffing, or professional services
  • Demonstrated success managing international business expansion
  • Strong commercial acumen with experience driving revenue growth and profitability
  • Leadership experience at Director, Managing Director, or C suite level
  • Experience preparing businesses for investment, acquisition, or buy out structures is highly advantageous
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills with a personable leadership style
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to execute operationally
  • Must hold a British or EU passport due to relocation and ownership structure requirements
  • Willingness to relocate if required (relocation costs included as part of the package)
