Job Description

Huis Andries Hamman is a programme of Badisa, a joint ministry action of the Dutch Reformed Church (Western Cape) and the United Reformed Church of South Africa (Cape). Applications are invited from motivated people with a proven management background and a positive attitude towards the elderly.

The designated candidate will report directly to the Governing Board, tasked with operationalising the strategic vision through targeted management tasks and the optimal utilisation of resources and services. The incumbent will be expected to provide for the care of the elderly in a safe and friendly environment, as well as the development of community-based services for older persons.

The Manager is responsible for the overall management and quality control of the home, which includes:
  • Supervision of the nursing care services, financial and human resource management functions, in collaboration with the multi-disciplinary team
  • Marketing, communication and fundraising, to ensure that the home can offer sustainable, more appropriate services
  • Asset management and maintenance of the occupational health and safety programme
  • Liaison and networking with stakeholders and building long term relationships with strategic partners.

The ideal candidate has a post matric qualification, the ability to lead and motivate a team, as well as the ability to timeously identify and solve problem areas.

Knowledge and experience of personnel and financial management, labour legislation, fundraising and marketing as well as computer skills are further requirements. Previous management experience and understanding of the unique challenges and operational dynamics related to social care and development work, will serve as a strong recommendation. Knowledge, experience and a practical aptitude regarding general maintenance of the kitchen, laundry and home will serve as a recommendation.

Compensation includes a negotiable salary, as well as medical and pension fund benefits.
