Job Description

Polokwane Chemical Suppliers (Phatsima) is looking for an energetic and results-driven Maintenance Technician to join our team in Polokwane.

The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out maintenance tasks in a systematic and efficient manner, ensuring all work is completed in line with PCS's code of ethics and established values.

  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on machinery, equipment, and company facilities, including buildings, offices, ablution facilities, warehouses, and surrounding premises.
  • Attend to day-to-day facility maintenance issues such as plumbing, basic electrical faults, lighting, doors, gates, fencing, roofing, and general building repairs.
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical and basic electrical faults on production equipment and facility infrastructure to minimise downtime and safety risks.
  • Respond promptly to emergency breakdowns and facility-related maintenance callouts.
  • Conduct regular inspections of plant, machinery, and facilities to identify defects, wear and tear, or potential safety hazards.
  • Ensure all maintenance and facility work is carried out in compliance with Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) requirements, company policies, and safe work procedures.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance and facilities job cards, inspection checklists, and service records.
  • Coordinate and supervise external contractors for specialised repairs, servicing, and facility-related work when required.
  • Monitor the condition of buildings, equipment, and infrastructure, and report maintenance needs, risks, or capital repair requirements to management.
  • Ensure proper housekeeping standards across workshops, plant areas, offices, and common areas.
  • Assist with installations, modifications, and improvements to both equipment and facilities.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives related to maintenance efficiency, facility upkeep, and workplace safety.
  • Participate in audits, inspections, and safety meetings related to maintenance and facilities management.
  • Perform standby duties, overtime, or after-hours maintenance support as required.
Minimum Requirements
  • Trade Test / Technical Qualification in Mechanical, Electrical, or related field
  • Minimum of 2-3 years' experience in a maintenance or technician role
  • Sound knowledge of machinery, equipment maintenance, and fault-finding
  • Basic electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills
  • Knowledge of OHS regulations and safe working practices
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Code 10 Driver's License
