Job Description
The role of the Maintenance Operator Grade 2 is to execute day to day maintenance that keeps site equipment, surfaces, and surroundings safe and operational.
Responsibilities- Follow all SHE requirements and work instructions
- Use and maintain PPE correctly.
- Apply HIRA/Mini HIRA/SLAM and report hazards immediately.
- Attend safety meetings as instructed to stay up to date on safety protocols.
- Keep allocated areas clean and apply good housekeeping practices to ensure a hazard free environment.
- Ensure that work practices do not endanger the safety of others.
- Active participation in SLAMs, HPHs, relevant Risk Assessments, and close out of Safety Actions.
- Performance and Delivery
- Maintenance execution
- Perform daily maintenance on plant equipment, civil structures, and work areas.
- Maintain stormwater channels, tar and gravel roads.
- Remove vegetation and maintain gardens, including trimming trees.
- Operate plant and support equipment safely according to instructions.
- Equipment & tools
- Use hand and power tools safely and effectively.
- Keep tools and toolboxes clean and in good condition.
- Prepare work areas with required tools, spares, and equipment.
- Test equipment and vehicles before returning them to service.
- Inspections & reporting
- Conduct pre shift inspections of vehicles, equipment, and components.
- Monitor equipment performance and report deviations or defects immediately.
- Communicate outstanding work during handover.
- Clean equipment and work areas after tasks.
- Store tools in designated areas and ensure safety signage is clear and visible.
- Team support
- Assist with civil maintenance activities as instructed.
- Support supervisors and team members to achieve functional objectives.
- Grade 12 Certificate / N3 Technical
- Driver's License
- Understand maintenance procedures, company processes, and policies with 1-2 years of relevant experience.
- Understand safety standards applicable to maintenance environments.
- Knowledge of vehicle/equipment components and functionality.
- Understand manufacturer standards in a maintenance environment.
- Knowledge of company policies and procedures relating to maintenance work.
- Familiarity with safety standards relevant to the job.
This role is in Engineering & Maintenance (E&M) Department at a Band J6 reporting to the Supervisor Civil Services A/B.
