Job Description

The Maintenance Coordinator will be responsible for managing and executing the company's preventative and breakdown maintenance requirements (with a direct and hands-on approach to all maintenance tasks), as well as the management of the company's in-house machine shop and its production workload.

In addition, the Maintenance Coordinator will assist with small in-house fabrication projects to increase company efficiency and quality.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • The Maintenance Coordinator's primary duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Management of preventative maintenance within the company.
  • Management of breakdown maintenance within the company.
  • "Hands-on" involvement in all maintenance and fabrication tasks.
  • Ability to operate machine shop equipment like CNC lathes, manual lathes, milling machines, etc.
  • Management of the internal machine shop employees, workload and equipment.
  • Responsible for small designs and fabrications to increase company efficiency and quality.
  • Assistance with small internal projects (such as new equipment installations).
  • Conduct training with all machine shop employees.
  • Management of external contractors on the company premises.
  • Take team disciplinary action when required.
  • Conduct internal reviews and investigations as required.
  • Collaborate with other company departments and management to ensure minimal machine downtime.
  • Use of the business ERP system with machine shop updates where required.
  • Build and maintain strong internal relationships.
  • Ensure compliance with all company policies, practices and procedures.

Other Duties & Responsibilities

The Maintenance Coordinator's additional duties include, but are not limited to, the following as needed:

  • Temporary assistance in other departments of the business (will be per formal arrangement).
  • Assist with other tasks as required.
Requirements
  • Strong understanding of light industrial and engineering workshop machinery (centreless grinders, winding machines, milling machines, lathes, bending machines, pedestal drills, etc.).
  • Strong technical and practical maintenance abilities with a very hands-on approach.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Team player with a proactive attitude and problem-solving mindset.
  • Good physical health.
  • Hold a valid driver's license and provides own transport.
  • Language: English literate (able to read and write).
Basic Salary: Market related, based on experience.

Benefits: Company provident fund after 12 months of employment.
