Life Orientation Teacher - Senior Phase
Job Description
We are looking for a passionate and engaging Life Orientation Teacher for the Senior Phase (Grades 7-9). The successful candidate will support learners in developing essential life skills, emotional intelligence, and social awareness, while delivering structured and engaging online lessons.
This role requires a teacher who can build strong connections with learners, facilitate meaningful discussions, and create a safe and inclusive virtual classroom environment.
Key Responsibilities- Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging Life Orientation lessons aligned to curriculum standards
- Facilitate discussions on topics such as personal development, health and well-being, social responsibility, and study skills
- Create and manage course content on Canvas in line with internal standards
- Set, moderate, and mark assessments in accordance with academic policies
- Provide constructive and timely feedback to learners
- Track and report on learner progress and engagement
- Maintain consistent communication with learners and parents via approved platforms
- Collaborate with Phase Heads and Subject Leads to ensure alignment and quality
- Relevant teaching qualification
- Experience teaching Life Orientation in the Senior Phase (Grades 7-9)
- Strong understanding of curriculum and assessment requirements
- Fully bilingual (English and Afrikaans) - both written and verbal
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to engage learners effectively in an online environment
- Strong organisational and administrative skills
- Technologically proficient (experience with LMS platforms such as Canvas is advantageous)
