CORE PURPOSE OF JOB
  • To teach History and Social Science Education at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
  • To supervise postgraduate students in History and Social Science Education.
  • To engage in the assessment of School-Based Learning and Teaching.
  • To publish and engage in research in the fields of History and Social Science Education.
  • To participate in Community Engagement activities.
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS
  • Facilitate learning, teaching, and assessment processes in the Faculty.
  • Engage in scholarly work with an increased focus on the Africanisation and Decolonization of History and Social Science Education.
  • Participate in research collaboration that will lead to publications and conference presentations in the field of History and Social Science Education.
  • Engage in postgraduate supervision in History and Social Science Education.
  • Participate in Faculty administration.
  • Participate in community engagement projects.
CORE COMPETENCIES
  • Ability to facilitate learning processes in History and Social Science Education.
  • Ability to facilitate the teaching of History and Social Science at the undergraduate level.
  • A sound knowledge of teaching & assessment strategies within the digital space as it relates to History and Social Science Education.
  • Ability to adapt the teaching of History and Social Science Education to a diverse group of students.
  • Ability to conduct scholarly work with an increased focus on the Africanization and Decolonization of History and Social Science within of education.
  • Experience in the supervision of postgraduate students will be an added advantage.
  • Facilitate and engage in curriculum development processes at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
  • Ability to teach History and Social Science methodologies at an undergraduate level.
  • Ability to work in Moodle.
REQUIREMENTS
  • A Masters Degree in History and Social Science in Education or equivalent.
  • A PhD in Education focusing on History and Social Science will be an added advantage.
  • Experience (1-5 years) in the teaching of History and Social Science Education at a university.
  • Experience in the teaching History and Social Science at a school level.
  • A sound disciplinary and content knowledge in History and Social Science in Education.
  • Some Post Graduate supervision experience will be an added advantage.
  • A publication track record will be an added advantage.
