Job Description

A leading food manufacturing company is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Laboratory Quality Coordinator to join its Quality team for a fixed-term contract. This role is ideal for someone passionate about product quality, food safety, laboratory processes, and continuous improvement within a fast-paced production environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct in-process and finished product quality testing, including sensory evaluations
  • Ensure all product samples are received, tracked, and reconciled according to production planning
  • Record, analyse, and report non-conforming results promptly
  • Perform retesting and assist with investigations where specifications are not met
  • Capture laboratory data accurately and maintain up-to-date records
  • Evaluate and approve raw materials based on quality documentation and specifications
  • Monitor expired stock notifications and assist with re-evaluations where required
  • Complete inspections, checklists, and compliance documentation according to schedules
  • Maintain laboratory equipment through cleaning, verification, and routine checks
  • Report equipment breakdowns or maintenance concerns
  • Ensure the laboratory and retention areas remain clean, organised, and audit-ready
  • Support microbiological testing activities, including media preparation and data capturing
  • Adhere to food safety, environmental, health, and safety standards at all times
  • Assist with customer complaint investigations and quality-related corrective actions
  • Support general quality assurance activities and administrative functions as required
Minimum Requirements
  • Grade 12 / Matric
  • 1 year of experience within a quality control or laboratory environment
  • Experience within FMCG, food manufacturing, or production environments will be advantageous
  • Microbiology training or exposure would be beneficial
  • Knowledge of quality management systems or laboratory software is advantageous
  • Strong attention to detail and administrative accuracy
  • Good communication and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to prioritise tasks and work effectively under pressure
  • Reliable, organised, and team-oriented individual
