Junior Sous Chef - Simbambili Game Lodge In a Nutshell

As our Junior Sous Chef, you will work with the Head Chef & Sous Chef at Simbambili Game Lodge to deliver a 5-star memorable dining experience to our guests, while actively participating in food preparation, kitchen operations, and team supervision.

What you will be doing
  • Support the Kitchen team in ensuring a consistent 5 dining experience for all guests
  • Work with and support the Head Chef and Sous Chef
  • Take responsibility for various kitchen sections including but not limited to hot, cold and prep kitchens
  • Ensure all stations are fully prepared and stocked before and during service
  • Assist with menu execution and adapting dishes to meet dietary requirements
  • Prepare and present high-quality dishes alongside the kitchen team
  • Assist with ensuring efficient and smooth running of all meal services including bush dining experiences
  • Ensure we delight our guests through our food experience
  • Ensure proper food rotation (FIFO), labelling, and storage practices
  • Assist with stock control, monitoring, ordering and receiving of deliveries
  • Enforce food hygiene & safety standards at all times
  • Assist in minimizing food waste and supporting budget control initiatives

  • Strong command of the English language
Requirements
  • Minimum 5 years' experience as a Chef (or similar role)
  • Experience in a high-end, luxury safari lodge (5 lodge experience desirable)
  • Grade 12 Matric
  • Relevant culinary qualification to your advantage
  • Driver's license to your advantage
  • Proficient in the English language
  • Clear criminal record
Position Details

Contract type: Permanent
Site: Simbambili Game Lodge (Sabi Sands)
Work cycle: 3 weeks on : 1 week off
Remuneration: Cash + Provident Fund
We provide: Accommodation, Meals (while on duty), Uniform
