Job Description
We are looking for a motivated and hands on Junior Site Manager to join our growing HVAC Cape Town team. This role is ideal for a technically capable individual who wants to develop their site management and leadership skills within the construction and mechanical services industry.
The Junior Site Manager will assist in managing day to day site operations, coordinating installations, supervising teams, and ensuring projects are completed safely and efficiently. You will work closely with the HVAC Project Manager, Senior Site Managers, engineers, subcontractors, and clients to support successful project delivery.

Key Responsibilities- Site Coordination & Supervision
- Support the Site Manager and HVAC Project Manager with daily site operations.
- Assist in planning and coordinating site activities to meet project timelines.
- Supervise installation teams and subcontractors where required.
- Help establish site setup in accordance with contractual and legal requirements.
- Monitor installation progress and report updates to management.
- Assist with resolving site challenges and identifying practical solutions.
- Ensure proper maintenance and care of company equipment and tools.
- Assist with workforce logistics including transport and accommodation if required.
- Receive and assist in implementing project instructions from the Project Manager.
- Help prioritize daily tasks and allocate resources effectively.
- Coordinate workers and subcontractors on site.
- Ensure required materials, equipment, and consumables are available.
- Assist with on site measurements and track variations to scope where necessary.
- Support the enforcement of Health & Safety regulations and company policies.
- Assist with daily toolbox talks before work begins.
Maintain site documentation such as risk assessments, DSTIs, appointment letters and tool registers. Ensure workers use correct PPE and safety equipment. Help maintain compliant Health & Safety files on site. Ensure tools and equipment meet safety standards.
Rigging & Lifting Coordination- Assist in coordinating lifting operations with approved rigging contractors.
- Ensure lifting procedures and safety requirements are followed.
- Confirm that necessary rigging studies and approvals are in place before lifting operations.
- Support safety briefings for teams involved in lifting activities.
- Read and interpret mechanical and HVAC drawings.
- Assist installation teams with technical queries where required.
- Support troubleshooting and preventative maintenance activities.
- Ensure proper stock levels of site materials and consumables.
- Maintain good housekeeping and organization on site.
- Assist with coordinating commissioning schedules.
- Support commissioning teams and electrical contractors on site.
- Collect documentation required for Operating & Maintenance (O&M) manuals.
- Assist with consultant and client inspections.
- Help manage snag lists and track completion.
- Support final system handover to clients or consulting engineers.
- Coordinate with electrical teams for installation and system integration.
- Assist with cable routing, panel installations, and control wiring where required.
- Ensure electrical teams are aware of drawing revisions or scope changes.
- Ensure installations meet consultant specifications and company standards.
- Verify work is completed according to approved drawings and project requirements.
- Support compliance with building regulations and safety standards.
- Valid driver's licence required.
- Acquire EB driving licence after 6 months of employment.
- Assist with transporting materials, equipment and staff when necessary.
- Ensure loads are properly secured during transport.
- Maintain vehicle cleanliness and report servicing requirements.
- Maintain clear communication between site teams and management.
- Assist with timekeeping and reporting to HR when required.
- Support subcontractors with documentation and claims submissions.
- Maintain organized site records and documentation.
- Assist with managing site tools and equipment.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development.
- Follow company procedures and safety regulations.
- Provide support to the project team where required.
- 0-2 years experience in construction, HVAC installation or site supervision (advantageous).
- Basic understanding of HVAC systems and mechanical installations.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
- Knowledge of construction site safety practices.
- Good leadership potential and teamwork skills.
- Strong organizational and communication abilities.
- Valid driver's licence (required).
Ability to work under pressure and meet project deadlines.
Preferred Skills- Exposure to HVAC or mechanical services projects.
- Experience working on construction sites.
- Basic understanding of ducting, piping, ventilation and HVAC components.
