Job Description

Paterson & Cooke South Africa is seeking to appoint a Junior Process Engineer to join the test facility team in Cape Town. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated and detail-oriented early-career engineer with a background in minerals processing and a keen interest in bench- and pilot-scale test work.

The successful candidate will support the planning, execution, and reporting of test work campaigns in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. The role requires a proactive team player who is eager to learn, develop hands on experience, and grow within a specialised engineering field.

This role is a full-time, laboratory-based position with the following tasks and responsibilities:

Tasks and Responsibilities:
  • Perform and assist with test work, including minerals processing, separation, dewatering and hydrometallurgical tests
  • Assist in the development of test work proposals and cost estimates
  • Support the design and setup of test equipment, including layout and operating parameters
  • Contribute to safe work practices and ensure the proper handling of test equipment and reagents
  • Conduct bench- and pilot-scale tests and record process data and performance
  • Collect, analyse, and interpret test data, and assist in the preparation of technical reports
  • Participate in the troubleshooting and optimisation of test processes
  • Support research and development initiatives to improve test procedures
  • Ensure compliance with safety, quality and environmental regulations
  • Communicate effectively with team members and project stakeholders
  • Participate in regular project updates and progress reporting
  • BTech / BSc / BEng degree in Chemical or Metallurgical Engineering
  • Up to five (5) years' experience in an engineering laboratory, plant, or mining environment
  • A valid driver's licence
  • Basic knowledge of mineral processing processes
  • Familiar with Microsoft software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.)
