Introduction

ArcelorMittal is recruiting for a Junior Manager Metallurgy / Chemical Engineer to be based in Vanderbijlpark

Responsibilities & requirements
  • Oversee Blast Furnace operation
  • Supervision of a team to ensure that Blast Furnace throughput and yield objectives are achieved
  • Ensure plant availability according to set standards
  • Organize and implement shutdowns and breakdowns
  • Identify and resolve problems
  • Ensure shift checklists are completed and filled
  • Continuous Improvement of work methods and productivity
  • Communication with all Blast Furnace personnel and related functions to ensure effective production
  • Responsible for scheduling training for subordinates
  • Manage time and attendance of employees
  • General management of SHERQ (Toolbox talks, cardinal rules, HIRA, task observations, permit to work)
  • Responsible to ensure that 8.2 requirements according to the OSH Act are adhered to
  • Assist with implementation and adherence to fatality prevention standards
  • Ensure that shift has all required PPE as prescribed
  • Review and address safe working procedures for specific tasks
  • General review of SOP's with shift
  • Review induction material for the area
  • Log of pivot incidents
  • Incident investigation
  • General housekeeping and appearance of the area
Qualifications & requirements
  • 5 years' experience in Blast Furnace Operations
  • Workplace assessor experience will be an added advantage
