Overview

A portfolio management and advisory services company, seeks to employ a Junior Financial Analyst to join their team. In this role you will gain hands-on experience collecting, analysing, and interpreting municipal financial information to support decision-making in credit, investment, and advisory processes.

Responsibilities
  • Collect and maintain financial information from municipalities, ensuring all data is up to date.
  • Input financial statements and budgets into assessment models and IPM databases accurately.
  • Assist with financial analysis, interpreting results from models and supporting the preparation of reports on municipal financial health.
  • Support forecasting activities, helping to project future financial positions under guidance from senior staff.
  • Participate in client interactions, including meetings and site visits with portfolio managers.
  • Provide administrative support for credit committee meetings, including taking and filing minutes.
Qualifications
  • Recently completed a Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting, Informatics or related degree
  • Entry-level - no professional experience required
  • Internships or work experience in finance, accounting, or related areas is an advantage
  • Basic accounting knowledge
  • Basic computer skills (MS Word, Excel)
  • Understanding of financial statements and budgets
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Awareness of municipal financial frameworks (PFMA, MFMA) is an advantage
