We are looking for a an ambitious, motivated and results orientated Junior Design Engineer to join our Screening Media team.

The role will report into the Operations Manager. The role will be based at our offices in Crown Mines, Johannesburg.

Purpose of the role:
  • The Junior Design Engineer scope of work will primarily consist of, but is not limited to, production responsibilities, with a secondary focus on application engineering. The application engineering responsibilities will include occasional local and international site visits.
The job responsibilities: Screen media engineering production responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following.
  • Product drafting and detailing.
  • Product tooling, drafting, and detailing
  • Product vetting, description, and stock code creation.
  • Maintaining the product tool registers.
  • Issue tool manufacturing drawings to the toolmaker and assist with any queries.
  • Product maximum bearing load calculations
  • Product material mass calculations for costing.
  • Assist with product quality check queries and identify areas of possible manufacturing process and design improvements.
  • Assist with production queries.
  • Product general arrangement drawings for customer approvals.
  • Drawing and updating customer deck layouts.
  • Data capturing of existing products and tools.
  • Issuing part manufacturing drawings to production.
  • Check external part manufacturing drawings before they are issued to production.
  • Developing and maintaining product tooling configuration lists for production, assisting them with product manufacture.
  • Reverse engineer existing tools, for which we do not have design details, for further development and tool maintenance.
Screen Media's application engineering responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Acting as the technical link between sales and clients, assisting sales with screen media enquiries.
  • Product selection for specific applications.
  • Product failure analysis and reporting.
  • Process and product performance analysis to identify findings and apply solutions where needed.
Qualifications & Experience Requirements
  • Degree - Baccalaureus Ingeneria in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Familiar with Computer Aided Design and Drafting.
