Job Summary

This role involves overseeing daily IT operations, acting as the primary technical escalation point, and leading the training and development of junior technicians. The IT Team Lead will balance hands on technical support with team leadership and mentorship, ensuring high service standards while driving continuous skills development across the IT team.

Responsibilities and Duties
  • Lead and supervise all IT staff based in Piet Retief
  • Act as the primary escalation point for technical issues
  • Provide hands on support across hardware, software, and network environments
  • Train, mentor, and develop IT Trainees and Junior Technicians
  • Ensure service delivery meets company standards and SLAs
  • Assist in onboarding and evaluating new technical staff
  • Maintain documentation, processes, and best practices
  • Liaise with the IT Service Delivery Lead on performance and operations
  • Support other regions when required
Qualifications and Skills
  • Matric (Grade 12)
  • CompTIA A+ and CompTIA Network+ certifications
  • CompTIA Security+, Microsoft 365 Fundamentals or Associate certifications, Ubiquiti (UBWS or equivalent), ITIL Foundation (advantageous)
  • 2-5 years' IT support experience
  • Proven experience leading or mentoring junior staff
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across Windows OS, Microsoft 365, networking (LAN/WAN, Wi Fi), hardware, and end user devices
  • Strong leadership skills with a high level of accountability
  • Ability to train, mentor, and develop junior staff
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving abilities
  • Effective communication skills (technical and non technical)
  • Ability to work independently, take ownership, and maintain a high attention to detail with a strong focus on service quality
