Monocle is looking for an experienced professional to join our team as an IT Manager. As the IT Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing Monocles entire IT environment, including its performance, security, resilience, and strategic development. You will be required to manage all IT functions for about 250 to 500 users working within regulated financial services settings. The IT Manager maintains operational stability while enhancing governance, strengthening cybersecurity, and ensuring alignment with client security requirements, especially as the company prepares for ISO-compliant practices. This leadership position involves both hands on infrastructure management and planning for future transformation. The role covers oversight in multiple jurisdictions, including South Africa, the Netherlands, and the United Kingdom.

This role provides the opportunity to shape and mature the entire IT function within a growing international consulting business. The successful candidate will build scalable, secure and resilient systems that support client trust and future expansion and should have experience in data and information security, including cyber security.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage and maintain IT infrastructure, networks, systems, and cloud environments
  • Lead cybersecurity strategy, risk management, and incident response
  • Ensure data protection, privacy, and regulatory compliance
  • Oversee software & licensing governance
  • Oversee user & device lifecycle management
  • Oversee service desk & end user experience
  • Oversee IT policies, procedures, and governance frameworks
  • Manage IT budgets, vendors, and technology procurement
  • Supervise and mentor IT staff
  • Ensure business continuity and disaster recovery planning
  • Drive continuous improvement and digital transformation initiatives
  • Development of an IT roadmap aligned to business growth including Process automation and operational efficiency improvements
  • Regular reporting to leadership on IT performance, risk posture and initiatives
  • Implement, maintain, and support compliance with data and information security, including cybersecurity
Experience:
  • 7 years + progressive IT experience, including responsibility for infrastructure, operations and security in a multiuser environment
  • Proven experience managing and supporting 250 plus user environments across distributed or multi site operations
  • Experience within financial services or similarly regulated sectors, with exposure to compliance, audit and client due diligence requirements
  • Demonstrated ownership of IT infrastructure including networking, endpoint management, backups, identity and access control
  • Strong technical expertise in Microsoft based environments, including Windows device deployment, administration and licensing management
  • Solid understanding of networking architecture including LAN, WAN, wireless configuration and security controls
  • Previous experience implementing and maintaining cybersecurity controls aligned to recognised frameworks
  • Experience preparing or maturing environments toward ISO aligned information security standards advantageous
  • Implement, maintain, and support compliance with data and information security, including cybersecurity
  • Proven experience managing vendors, service providers and technology contracts
  • Experience owning and managing an IT budget with cost optimisation accountability
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and improve service desk operations supporting both remote and in person users
  • Proven problem solving capability with the ability to operate independently and make sound technical decisions under pressure
  • Strong understanding of GDPR, POPIA, and other applicable financial sector data protection regulations
Qualifications
  • Bachelors Degree, Advanced Diploma or equivalent qualification in IT, Information Systems or IT Management
  • Industry certifications such as A+, N+, Microsoft certifications or equivalent technical credentials
  • Relevant certifications preferred (e.g., CISSP, CISM, ISO 27001)
  • Security related certifications advantageous
