Colours has been a staple support organization for Philly's BIPOC and LGBTQ+ communities for years, we were originally founded in 1991 as a magazine. No matter what media we have used, all of our efforts have always been focused on helping the Philadelphia community live better lives. We noticed huge disparities in healthcare, education, and emotional support within the community, so we became an official nonprofit resource organization in 1994. Since then, we've been educating our fellow community members about targeted issues like HIV/AIDS prevention, sexual health issues, and mental health issues.
Services Provided: Advocacy, Education - Adult, Education - Youth, Health Issues Treatment, Health Issues Education, HIV/STD/ Hepatitis C Prevention/Education/Screening and Testing Services
Position SummaryThe Health & Wellness Intern will support COLOURS' ongoing programs focused on HIV prevention, mental health awareness, and holistic wellness. This role is ideal for students in public health, social work, or psychology who want hands on experience with community based interventions.
Responsibilities- Assist in planning and facilitating weekly health workshops and drop in activities.
- Support Drop In events by managing participant intake forms and providing educational resources.
- Collect feedback from participants and summarize data for program reports.
- Shadow staff during community outreach activities.
300 hour placements (about hours/week) for Fall, Winter, Spring & Summer Semester
