The candidates must be medically fit in terms of the Mine Health and Safety Act and the Company standards for medical fitness. # Closing Date: 4 May 2026 Location: Lichtenburg,North West,South AfricaAfrimat Industries (Pty) Ltd, based in Lichtenburg has a vacancy for a: Health and Safety OfficerAfrimat Industries operates a cement manufacturing plant in Lichtenburg and is seeking an experienced Health and Safety Officer with 3-5 years' experience in process plant production. In this role the successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring legal compliance in health and safety and promote a strong safety culture. # Minimum Qualifications / Experience / Requirements National Diploma/Degree in Safety Management or equivalent qualification Minimum 3-5 years' experience in a heavy manufacturing or cement plant environment Sound knowledge of OHS Act and relevant regulations, risk assessments and incident investigation, and ISO 45001(advantageous) Strong attention to detail and analytical skills Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Ability to influence and lead safe work behaviours # Duties and responsibilities (not limited to): Ensure compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) and related regulations Implement, maintain, and monitor the plant's Health and Safety Management System Conduct regular risk assessments, SOP reviews, and legal compliance audits Identify hazards, investigate incidents, and implement corrective and preventive actions Monitor contractor safety compliance and permit-to-work systems Participate in plant safety committees and emergency response planning Compile and submit statutory reports and monthly H&S performance statistics Promote a strong safety culture through engagement with employees and management Liaise with regulatory authorities, and external auditors when required # Please submit the following documents to apply:Please upload the following documents in one file with the application form to the right.
