GROUNDS/SPORT FACILITIES SUPERVISOR
Job Description
Sweet Valley Primary is looking to appoint a suitably qualified and experienced individual who will be able to effectively lead and manage all aspects of the school's grounds and sports facilities, ensuring high standards of presentation, maintenance, safety, and quality while fostering a proactive and solutions-focused culture of care for the school environment.
Prospective candidates should demonstrate the following proficiencies:
- Grounds and Sports Facilities Management: Ability to oversee and maintain the school's gardens, grounds, playing fields, courts, and related outdoor spaces to a high standard, ensuring that these areas are safe, attractive, functional, and well prepared for school and sporting use.
- Landscaping and Horticultural Planning: Sound knowledge of landscaping, horticulture, seasonal planting, turf care, fertilisation, and irrigation systems, with the ability to implement programmes that support the long-term quality and sustainability of the campus.
- Staff Management: Experience in supervising and leading a team, with a focus on work planning, accountability, staff development, and the consistent execution of daily and seasonal tasks.
- Quality Control: Strong attention to detail and experience in monitoring the quality of work performed by staff, contractors, and service providers to ensure that expected standards are met.
- Preventative Maintenance: Proven ability to establish and execute preventative maintenance programmes for grounds, sports surfaces, irrigation systems, and related infrastructure in order to minimise deterioration and reduce reactive repairs.
- Contractor and Service Provider Supervision: Experience in working with and overseeing external contractors and service providers, including monitoring performance, addressing concerns, and ensuring compliance with agreed standards and timelines.
- Communication and Administrative Skills: Good verbal and written communication skills, together with the ability to maintain maintenance schedules, reports, action plans, and other records required by the school.
