Job Description

A company in the Green Building industry is seeking a Senior Modelling Consultant to provide technical leadership across modelling and simulation projects, ensuring quality, consistency, and strategic direction. The role requires 5+ years' experience in Green Building, with strong expertise in advanced modelling, team mentorship, and translating complex technical outputs into strategic insights.

Responsibilities

Technical Leadership & Quality Assurance:

  • Take accountability for the technical quality, accuracy, and consistency of all modelling deliverables
  • Define, maintain, and continuously improve modelling standards, methodologies, and QA/QC processes
  • Review, approve, and sign off on modelling outputs, reports, and client submissions
  • Act as the escalation point for complex or non-standard modelling challenges

Advanced Performance Modelling & Strategic Application:

  • Lead the development and review of advanced performance models across diverse building typologies
  • Apply advanced building physics principles to complex sustainability challenges
  • Interpret modelling results to provide high-level strategic advice to clients and project teams
  • Ensure modelling outputs align with certification, regulatory, and client performance objectives

Client & Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Act as a trusted technical advisor in client meetings and external engagements
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with certification bodies and industry stakeholders
  • Support proposals, tenders, and business development through technical input and presentations
  • Lead, mentor, and develop Modelling Consultants and Junior Modelling Consultants
  • Allocate work, review outputs, and provide structured technical and performance feedback
  • Identify training needs and support career development planning
  • Provide input into performance reviews, resourcing, and progression decisions

Strategy, Innovation & Continuous Improvement:

  • Drive innovation in modelling approaches, tools, workflows, and service offerings
  • Lead internal discussions on emerging industry trends and technologies
  • Contribute to company-wide technical strategy and operational improvement initiatives
  • Support marketing, thought leadership, and knowledge-sharing activities

Accountability:

  • Accountable for modelling quality and technical integrity across the department
  • Final decision-maker on modelling methodologies, assumptions, and deviations from standards
  • Responsible for identifying and mitigating technical risk within modelling projects
Requirements Education
  • Bachelor's degree in a specialisation within the Built Environment
  • Mechanical Engineering Degree / Master's Degree in specialisation within the Built Environment (advantageous)
Experience
  • +5 years in the Green Building Industry
  • +5 years' experience in Green Building Modelling & Simulation
Other
  • Advanced proficiency in green building and performance modelling tools (e.g. DesignBuilder)
  • Strong understanding of building physics and energy efficiency principles
  • Experience modelling a range of building types, including new build, existing buildings, interiors, precincts, and Net Zero projects
  • Advanced proficiency in Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Slides)
