Our client based in Cape Town is seeking a General Maintenance Handyman to join their team, this would be a 12-month contract position. The ideal person would be responsible for carrying out general maintenance work within the complex. We are on the hunt for a skilled and reliable handyman to join our maintenance department. As a handyman, you will be responsible for upkeep and repair duties including maintaining green spaces, identifying the need for repairs, and servicing company equipment. To be an effective handyman, you need to be skilled and hard-working, with outstanding problem-solving abilities. Skilled hands, good physical stamina, and strong technical knowledge are important parts of the successful candidate's talents.

Responsibilities
  • Painting and filling minor cracks.
  • Basic carpentry work (repairs to doors and windows).
  • Basic plumbing, electrical and safety work.
  • Plastering and brick work (minor works).
  • Perform repairs on company machinery, equipment or appliances.
  • Perform garden services, maintain and improve green spaces.
  • Detect and report the need for minor to major maintenance repairs.
  • Regularly check communal spaces to identify issues with litter, maintenance or breakdowns.
  • Maintain the cleanliness of outside spaces such as parking lots and sidewalks.
  • Oversee the refuse cages stay clean on the company premises.
  • Provide management with support and guidance on maintaining site operations.

Role Requirements Qualifications and Experience
  • High school Grade 10 or equivalent qualification required.
  • A minimum of 3 years' working experience in a similar role.
  • Solid experience with general maintenance work.
  • Ability to work with hardware tools and power equipment.
  • Extremely organized with good communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented with an aptitude for problem-solving.
