Job Description

A leading client in the Hospitality sector is looking for a friendly, skilled and passionate Food Prep to support daily operations in a fast-paced kitchen environment. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing a variety of high-quality dishes, ensuring food safety and hygiene standards are met and maintaining a clean and organized kitchen.
The ideal candidate also will be expected to assist with chopping, slicing, portioning ingredients, following recipe guidelines and working efficiently during peak hours. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys working behind the scenes, has a keen eye for detail and is committed to delivering exceptional food preparation in a dynamic hospitality setting.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
  • Prepare ingredients for daily service, including chopping, slicing, portioning and assembling
  • Assist with preparation of menu items according to recipes and quality standards
  • Support both coffee shop offerings (light meals, pastries, breakfasts)
  • Ensure all food preparation complies with food safety, hygiene and health regulations
  • Maintain a clean, organized and sanitary kitchen environment
  • Assist with stock rotation, storage and basic inventory checks
  • Work efficiently during peak service hours while maintaining attention to detail
  • Support chefs and kitchen staff with general prep and kitchen duties
  • Minimise waste and handle ingredients responsibly.
  • Matric (Grade 12)
  • Certificate or qualification in Food Preparation, Hospitality, Professional Cookery or similar
  • Minimum of 2-4 years' experience in a coffee shop, restaurant or hospitality kitchen preferred
  • Knowledge of basic food safety and hygiene practices
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle pressure during busy periods
  • Good communication skills and ability to work well in a team
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
  • Willingness to work flexible shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
