This is an exciting and challenging opportunity for a talented Food and Beverage Manager to join the team at The Rees.

Our award winning True South Dining Room offers sophisticated, elegant evening dining as well as a full breakfast service, the Bordeau Lounge Bar serves a delicious all day menu with an extensive wine selection and our versatile conference spaces cater to events of all sizes. Our private wine cellar is one of New Zealand's most impressive, showcasing an exclusive collection of both international and local wines.

The position will suit a strong leader who is passionate about great wine and food, and who has the ambition and capability to grow. The role offers great opportunity for future progression with significant changes proposed for the food and beverage operation.

This is a permanent role and we are recruiting for one position.

Responsibilities
  • Managing the efficient operation of all food and beverage services through the hotel outlets and conference spaces to ensure outstanding guest service
  • Managing ordering of stock, and completion and analysis of monthly stocktakes
  • Leadership and management of the Food and Beverage team
  • Managing health and safety
  • Driving change and implementing new ideas for revenue generation and enhancing profile of food and beverage offerings
  • Maintenance of food, beverage, wage and operational costs
  • Preparation of rosters and managing time and attendance
  • Selection and recruitment of staff, identification and facilitation of training, performance management and all other day-to-day HR responsibilities.
Skills, experience and attributes
  • At least three years' food and beverage management experience in quality establishments
  • Licence Controller Qualification and Manager's Certificate, or the ability to obtain these
  • Wine knowledge or qualification such as WSET Level 2 or 3 highly desirable
  • Strong leadership experience
  • Organisational and communication skills
  • Solid experience managing people, including being responsible for recruitment, training, coaching and performance management
  • Experience managing stocktakes
  • Previous experience with POS systems and a strong systems orientation
  • The flexibility to work shifts including evenings, weekends and public holidays as required
