Overview

Our client is one of the country's leading printing service providers. Following continuous expansion, they are seeking a Finishing Team Leader to be the lead person responsible for the overall set up, performance, output, quality and efficiency of the Poly bagging lines and its operators.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare the Poly bagging machine in accordance with the specifications on the job ticket.
  • Clean, lubricate and adjust equipment to maintain maximum production and quality finished product.
  • Make necessary corrections and adjustments to correct intermittent random machine stops.
  • Maintain constant inspection and surveillance of books on stream to prevent gathering errors and Poly bagging machine delays.
  • Inspect and examine work in process to assure quality standards are met.
  • Lead the Poly bagging machine team to maintain steady production flow through maximum efficiency.
  • Troubleshoot and ensure preventative maintenance tasks are carried out.
  • Undertake Layered Audits as defined by the Shift FLM for Finishing.
  • Coordinate activities of the team to maintain constant flow of product through feeding and logger processes to minimize errors.
  • Assist the team with maintaining a clean and safe work environment.
  • Responsible for the training and development of the team and ongoing review of the team members' performance to ensure compliance and adherence to the standard operating procedures and safety requirements of the Poly bagging process.
  • Ensure appropriate handovers are provided between shifts and departments.
  • Support the First Line Managers and Department Managers on operational issues as required.
  • Undertake Team Leader responsibilities on other Finishing lines as defined by operational requirements.
  • Perform other duties assigned by immediate manager from time to time.
  • Ensure departmental compliance with relevant health, safety and environmental procedures, legislation and targets to meet plant and corporate requirements and to assist in the maintenance of a safe and environmentally friendly workplace.
Person Specification
  • Show the ability to demonstrate and promote a leadership style that ensures improved productivity and team motivation.
  • Be actively involved in regular performance reviews, where own performance is appraised, followed by development planning in accordance with own and the business needs.
  • Demonstrate a pro active approach to the training of other operators as determined by business needs.
  • Develop and motivate the team to achieve clearly defined work standards at all times.
  • Be available to work agreed shift patterns and extra shifts as required by production demand.
  • Proven ability to problem solve using technical knowledge and experience.
Education and Professional Background
  • Recognised industry qualification and/or proven technical process experience working on Poly bagging machinery.
  • Numerate and possess a basic level of computing skills such as Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Fluent in English, with the ability to write reports and complete documentation to an accurate and clear standard.
  • Experience of machine maintenance via the Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) model.
