Job PurposeThe faculty of Applied Sciences is looking to appoint a Faculty Work- Integrated Learning (WIL) Coordinator for the period of three (3) years on a portfolio basis in which the incumbent will retain 50% of their current academic workload and take up the portfolio of a Faculty WIL Coordinator.
The purpose of the post is to promote good WIL and service-Learning practices in the Faculty and enhance opportunities for WIL placements for the Faculty. The successful candidate will be required to provide leadership and mentoring on WIL and SL to Department as may be required.
Job Knowledge, Skills and Experience- Possession of, or registration towards, a Doctoral degree in one of the disciplines offered in Applied Sciences
- At least four (4) years' relevant teaching experience in Higher Education
- Working knowledge of WIL practices, systems and models
- Thorough knowledge of all Work-Integrated Learningmodules and systems.
- Knowledge of SAQA, HEQF, NQF and Professional body requirements for WIL
- Coordinate and chair Faculty WIL committee
- Represent Faculty at Institutional WIL Committees
- Serve on relevant Faculty Committees
- Curriculum coordination-infusion of workplace learning into all WIL curricula
- Coordinate Community Engagement and Service-Learning activities
- Serve as a link between the Centre for Community Engagement and Work-integrated Learning and the Faculty
- Liaison with similar units in other Faculties and also with Fundani
- Prepare and manage faculty budget for WIL
- Prepare Faculty WIL reports
- Promote and facilitate the development of scholarship for WIL and related areas
- Liaison with regulatory bodies, professional bodies and Government SETAs
- Establish relevant forums in the Departments and the Faculty and facilitate the development of a conducive operational environment for WIL and community engagement
