Job Description

The Mondia HealthCare Group requires a Facility Manager who will be based at our Mondia Sunnyside facility in Gqeberha reporting to the Chief Executive Officer.

The Facility Managers are responsible for overseeing the operations of the hospital, ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care, and promoting a therapeutic environment for patients and staff. The role requires strong leadership skills, clinical expertise, and a commitment to excellence in mental health care.

Experience and Qualifications/Training
  • Degree in General Nursing Science with Psychiatry
  • Registered with SANC
  • MBChB degree or equivalent
  • Registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA)
  • Valid Malpractice Insurance
  • Minimum of 4 years' experience in a leadership position
Responsibilities
  • Directing all day-to-day operational aspects of the facility including, but not limited to, administrative, nursing, therapeutic, case management, housekeeping, health and safety and such like operations, customer service, and human resources.
  • Review monthly financial reports and provide feedback on areas of concern or progress.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers of supplies and services.
  • Ensure adherence to all legal and ethical guidelines, regulations and practices.
  • Ensure compliance with policies and procedures.
  • Implement IR actions such as disciplinary enquiries where required.
  • Support the HR Partner specifically with regards to recruitment, placement, induction, training, and climate surveys.
  • Identify potential referring doctors and other sources of referral and effect interaction and marketing.
  • Identify appropriate Social Responsibility Projects and making recommendations to the CEO.
  • Implementation and management of Social Responsibility initiatives.

Clinical Leadership: Ability to provide clinical leadership and oversight, ensuring that evidence-based practices are implemented and maintained within the unit.

Financial Management: Ability to plan, prepare, and manage hospital budgets, ensuring resources (staff, equipment, consumables) are allocated efficiently to balance patient care quality with financial sustainability.

Team Management: Skills in team management, including staffing, scheduling, and supervision of nursing staff.

Risk Assessment and Management: Ability to conduct risk assessments and implement risk management strategies to ensure the safety of patients and staff within the mental health facility.

Quality Improvement: Knowledge and skills in quality improvement methodologies, with a focus on enhancing the quality of care and patient outcomes.

Staff Development and Education: Commitment to staff development and education, including ongoing training and professional development opportunities for nursing staff.

Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Ability to collaborate effectively with other healthcare professionals, including psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, and occupational therapists, to ensure comprehensive and holistic care for patients with mental health disorders.

Regulatory Compliance: Understanding of regulatory requirements and standards governing mental health facilities, including accreditation standards, licensing requirements, and policies related to patient rights and confidentiality.

Crisis Intervention: Proficiency in crisis intervention techniques and de-escalation strategies to manage challenging behaviours and emergencies within the mental health unit.

Communication and Advocacy: Strong communication and advocacy skills, including the ability to advocate for the needs of patients with mental health disorders and their families.
